V Our Vision Dr. McCaffrey has advanced training and certification in animal hospice and palliative medicine. She is excited to bring this valuable service to the Bergen and Rockland County region.

After working in the veterinary profession for nearly 15 years, Dr. McCaffrey began to realize that there is a significant gap in senior pet care. With all of the incredible advances in veterinary medicine over the past decade, she noticed how often pet parents felt lost when their beloved companion received a chronic or terminal diagnosis. Without resources to assess what all of their options were and what might be best for their individual situation, many pet families began to feel helpless.

C Care Dr. McCaffrey recognizes the need for an extended amount of time to visit in the home setting in order to fully assess the desires and needs of the family and their pet. After meeting with the family, a customized care plan is developed and can be shared with everyone involved in your pets care: veterinarians, trainers, groomers, caretakers, etc.

The vision of Senior Pet Vet is to bridge the critical gap between diagnosis of chronic and/or terminal disease and end of life for our pets. We have the ability to greatly improve the quality of life for our aging pets by utilizing an integrative model of care. Incorporating high quality traditional medicine with useful and effective alternative modalities such as acupuncture, physical medicine and environmental enrichment, we are able to greatly expand the once narrow path towards end of life.
